The Indian state of Kerala has been hit by the worst flood of the century and is in a dire need of humanitarian assistance.
Which is why the the UAE government, under the directive of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, had formed a national emergency committee to help the flood victims.

And now the UAE government has pledged AED368 million ($100 m) as financial assistance for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood-ravaged Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, said on Tuesday.
This amount is AED52 million (INR 100 Crore) more than what Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered Kerala.
“For scores of Keralites, Gulf is their second home. Keralites are not mere workers there. If we take the population and houses there, a Keralite would have some kind of connection with many of the houses there. There is a Malayali touch in everything. In our current distress, the people in the Gulf are as emotional as we are. Sheikh Mohammed has communicated to the Prime Minister about their decision to help. They have decided to give $100 million as assistance, that would be 700 crore in Indian rupees. I would like to express my gratitude to the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on behalf of Malayalis.”
