Dubai Peeps Are Baffled At Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte’s Advice On Cleaning Face Masks With ‘Petrol’

Urmmm well this clearly isn’t a joke because the Philippines’ outspoken President, President Rodrigo Duterte advised his people to use petrol as a disinfectant for protective facemasks and he declared that,

“What I said is true. Just go to the gasoline station, and then have some drops, that’s disinfectant. I am not joking. That is true. You think I am just kidding.”

The Filipino leader made the same remark last week of using petrol on masks as a disinfectant if other cleaning agents were unavailable, however, his spokesperson dispersed it as a joke. But Duterte stressed that his advice was NO joke in a live televised address on Friday, July 31.

If it wasn’t already clear, please note that medical experts do NOT recommend this mask cleaning tip whatsoever

Inhaling gasoline from such close proximity can lead to severe respiratory diseases and other chronic medical conditions.

Cleaning your reusable face mask with soap and water should do the trick just fine.

The Philippines has over 90k confirmed COVID-19 cases with 30,928 active cases, more than 2,000 deaths and 65,000+ recoveries

Duterte extended restrictions to contain the spread of the novel virus and assured that normality would return to the country by December.
