The mighty Burj Khalifa is 7-years-old this week and we couldn’t be prouder to live in the same city as the tallest building in the world. The engineering masterpiece took 6-years to build, excavation work started in January 2004 with the official opening ceremony being held in January 2010. And now, in 2017 it gets to celebrate it’s sixth anniversary as not only the tallest building but also the tallest freestanding structure in the world (although that’s officially seven years – it overtook the previous structure during construction).
