American Police Officer Who Shot Unarmed Emirati Man Will Not Face Criminal Charges

Hudson Police officer, Ryan Doran fatally shot United Arab Emirates citizen 26-year-old Saif Nasser Mubarak Alameri last year on December 4, 2016. 

Now a grand jury has decided not to indict the officer.

On Thursday the Ohio Attorney General’s office said that Officer Doran would not be facing criminal charges.

Al Ameri’s death was ruled a homicide.

The 26 year old Emirati was a law student at Case Western Reserve University

The incident, where the victim was shot five times, occurred after the victim fled from a the scene of a crash.

Al Ameri was driving his car when he lost control and the vehicle flipped. He then fled into a nearby woods where Doran followed him on foot and the fatal shots were fired.

Al Ameri was unarmed the entire time and was shot after a struggle.

The officer was on paid leave during the investigation.

The UAE Embassy in the US has expressed their disappointment in the decision
