Disagree as much as you want, but technology is more of a boon than a bane to society.
One such expat will definitely vouch for it because thanks to technology, he was able to track down a group of three thieves who stole his iPhone from his check-in luggage at Dubai International Airport.
As per a report by Emarat Al Youm, the Egyptian was travelling from Dubai to his home country when he saw that the lock on his luggage was broken after reaching his destination.
Upon checking his bags, he realised the thieves had stolen his iPhone 7. The man then logged on to his iCloud account and figured out that his phone was still at DXB Airport.
The man’s brother notified the Dubai Police and they jumped into action immediately.
They apprehended three Asian nationals (aged 19 to 27), who worked for a plane-cleaning and luggage moving company, at Terminal 1 after they confessed to the crime.
Investigation revealed that their MO would include breaking into luggage and stealing small, valuable items to share the profits.
