The Australian-Afghani Virgin Radio presenter Mariam ‘Mazz’ Hakim, known for her antics on the Maz & James show recently went back to her home country Afghanistan.

The content she shared exhibit the stunning landscapes and incredible culture in Kabul, inspiring us all to give it a chance and consider adding it to future travel bucket lists.

This one was quite the memorable trip for Maz

…and who can blame her?

Being the largest capital and city of Afghanistan, Kabul is an absolute sight, and houses  a population of more than 5.266 million.

The video, seen below, shows Maz taking a stroll through Koche Murgha, more popularly known as ‘Chicken street’. This is where some of the world’s best lapis stones, carpets and leather are sold.

Maz is an Afghani-Australian who’s more than proud of her roots- and not afraid to show it

The radio host’s inspiring refugee story started in Kabul, Afghanistan when her parents fled the country on foot after it was invaded by the Soviets. In 1987, her family moved to Australia where she was raised until she moved to Dubai to continue being a radio host.

Today, we know her as the bubbly, inspiring and ever-elated host of the nighttime show with Maz & James but let’s journey along with her trip AND recognise the beauty and simplicity of Kabul.
