The death of Anthony Bourdain shook the world this week.
At just 61-years-old, the celebrated American chef and gifted story-teller tragically took his own life and memorials have been pouring in all weekend.
And here in Dubai we’re remembering his visit.
Part of his popular show ‘No Reservations’ Bourdain gave the rest of the world an insight into Dubai life, from the best local eateries (putting Ravis and Bu Qtair on the international foodie map) to the life of local Emiratis and the major city advancements.

The show aired in 2010, and residents and tourists alike remember the recommendations and continue to visit Ravi’s and Bu Qtair in droves. Bu Qtair has been updated since he visited, but the quality of the food remains the same.
“The entire family is still in shock.
So fortunate and priviliged to have met you, and welcomed you into our family that time.”
Peyman Al Awadhi
Along with putting local spots on the map, Bourdain also shone a light on the difficult growing conditions farmers in the region face.
