In a time where WE KNOW all about the negative knock-on effect social media can have, this is pretty shocking stuff.
Dubai FitFam is an Instagram account which regularly shares, you guessed it, images of various fitness ‘fluencers based in Dubai.
But an image with a ‘gram poll shared on its feed, which has since been removed, grabbed attention for all the wrong reasons. The pic showed a prominent Dubai ‘fitfluencer, Danae Mercer on the beach with a poll covering her face asking Dubai to vote…
WISE or LAZY?
“And then to hashtag it body positivity? How dare you. Who handles this account. I hope instead of worrying so much about women that are campaigning around accepting different bodies of different shapes, you spend a bit of time considering the message you’re sending out.”
Dubai FitFam acknowledged the removal of the post. The account posted to its 55k followers to announce the snap was only removed after bullying accusations were reported to Instagram by users.
However, the account has stood its ground stating the page did not express its opinion on the subject and adding that the page continues to support freedom of opinions.
