Living in apartments is part of Dubai life for many. We have so many towers, and villas are SO expensive that many of us end up living in our flats for many years.
There are plenty of benefits to living that apartment life – no garden to maintain, no maintenance of rubbish removal, 24hr security, having a pool without paying the DEWA for it.
But there are also a few drawbacks, like these 10…
Your parking is either four floors below ground level, in the basement, or it’s four floors up. Either way, you spend your life winding down the drive just to get onto the street.
WHAT are they even doing up there?
Who knew so many people even lived in your building!?
And if you chat, what do you even talk about? “Oooh it’s hot out there today…”???
Because the smoke detector is directly over the stove, every time you cook, there’s a near-evacuation.
Who’s even toasting at 1am!?
Oh wait no, it’s an idiot throwing a cigarette butt down the trash chute. Well done you.
You know those home-bound days, where you didn’t even change out of your pyjamas, and order food in all day.
The next day you usually get a knowing smile from your security guys – they don’t miss ANYTHING.
AC on means snowing inside, and your teeth chattering, but the minute you shut it off, your apartment becomes the burning depths of hell.
Nothing else to do but have the AC on, and snuggle under a duvet. Ammirite people?
Bruh, you gotta put the trash IN the chute, not just dump it in the tiny trash room.
Tight quarters in carparks mean it can get dog-eat-dog out there, and there’s always that one lunatic who parks wherever they want, and basically diagonally across two parking spaces. Well.done.you.
