It’s that time of the year again when you drive past the streets of Dubai and notice every second home beautifully lit up with fairy lights adding a festive vibe to the city.
That’s because, this month thousands of Indians residing in the UAE will be celebrating the BIGGEST ever Hindu festival Deepavali (Diwali) the festival of lights on Sunday, October 27 and this year around schools will be in on all the fun as well.
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), has announced that as many as 62 Indian schools will be granted a long weekend (that means Sunday off… yaay) so that students can celebrate the auspicious day with their friends and families.
Likewise, other schools will be given a half-day off and the remaining will invite students and faculty to wear traditional attires to celebrate on campus.
On Thursday, schools and workplaces, across Dubai had already put together adorable decors and events to celebrate the festival.
Spreading good cheer on this festival of lights. Developing values of tolerance and respect this Deepavali.
We wish you all a very Happy Deepavali.#Deepavali #Diwali #Festivaloflight #KHDA #JSSIS #JSSISat10❤️ pic.twitter.com/QTdjaBm8Y2— JSS International School (@JssSchool) October 24, 2019
Students at, Gems Dubai American Academy, will be having a half-day on Sunday.
Parents are advised to ring up the school to confirm on the holidays or timings if they haven’t already received an email or text message notifying them of so.
Sweets were distributed and rangolis were created by mums and faculty members from all walks of life.
That’s the beauty of Dubai, no matter where you’re from or what your background is, you will always feel like you’re a part of something much bigger – with the inclusivity of the city and its people.
