What do you do when you want the goodness of fruit but could do with something more exciting than just a piece on your plate? Well, you try out some of these delicious dishes on offer at restaurants in Dubai. Not a bad way to get your ‘five a day’ *wink*.
The green papaya salad at Smiling BKK (Al Wasl Square) is made with peanuts, tomatoes and carrots. The vegetarian one is priced at AED 25 and for an additional AED 10 you can get some prawns thrown in too.
Head to Qbara (Wafi City) for a taste of the delish grilled eggplant served with medjool dates and feta cheese (AED 50). While the restaurant will be shut during Ramadan, it is most definitely worth a visit once it reopens not just for its food, but also its much talked about 3D wall.
The salad at La Serre (Vida Downtown Dubai) uses the classic combo of watermelon and feta and is topped with basil. At AED 55 it is the ideal start to a meal.
Just the bright colour is enough to make the peach and pumpkin soup at Patiala (Souk Al Bahar) apt for summer. Priced at AED 25 the soup is full-flavoured and fresh.
These little jewels are topped on the dahi puri chaat at Indian restaurant Naya (Jumeirah Beach Hotel). It is a burst of flavours when each piece of the appetiser is consumed all at one go and the pomegranate provides the much-needed crunch. It’s a great veggie dish for AED 55.
The Mediterranean breakfast (AED 80) at Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens’ restaurant Pots, Pans & Boards (The Beach, JBR) is just what you need when you’re craving avocado. In addition to plenty slices of the fruit, you also get fried egg, feta and olives.
This heart-warming crepe (from AED 29) made with baked cinnamon apples is a must at Markette (The Dubai Mall). Let’s just say it’s the good stuff you need every now and then.
Served at the Street Art Brunch (AED 299 per person) at Nine7One (The Oberoi Dubai), these mango spheres bring out the taste of the fruit in the best possible way. There’s the right amount of sweetness too. Molecular gastronomy at play!
Who would have ever thought that this is actually edible? Feast (Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai) serves duck with a cherry glaze at its weekly brunch Feast Fridays (from AED 325). The yummy and cheery sticks look good on Insta too.
