It won’t be too long before working hours are reduced for Ramadan and residents start traveling for the summer break. But just before all that happens, here are the last few events you can attend for this season. Plus, there’s other stuff to keep you going through Ramadan should you be one of those who doesn’t fast.
And stay back for Suhoor too.
Embrace the culture of the city this Holy Month of Ramadan. Try fasting for the day (it’s not as easy as you think) and break your fast at an Iftar with family and friends. DUCTAC at Mall of the Emirates, 2 – 4 June (04 341 7777)
Produced in honour of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, the play follows the antics of Falsaff who tried to swindle money out of two prominent housewives in Windsor. The result: he finds himself being outwitted by them. Watch the all-male cast double up in roles to bring you this fun, family-friendly show.
Dubai Sports World at Dubai World Trade Centre, 2 June – 27 August (04 306 4000)
There’s no excuse for being lazy this summer. The indoor sports arena is back again offering sports enthusiasts facilities for games such as football, basketball, cricket, tennis, rugby and more in the comfort of 20,000m² of air-conditioned space. Book online to reserve your space! Some games may be charged.
Dubai World Trade Centre, 3 June
Acclaimed singer and musician (he can play over 35 musical instruments) Adnan Sami’s concert is an initiative to unite nations and spread the message of love through music. The Indian musical show will include performances of his most popular songs over the years. Tickets are priced at AED 75, 125, 250, 600, 1,250 and 2,000.
Dubai World Trade Centre, 3 June
The American comedian of I’m Not Fat…I’m Fluffy fame will perform for the first time in Dubai this month. Touted as a ‘comedy genius’, the event promises to be an entertaining night for fans. Tickets are available at Virgin Megastore and Platinum List for AED 250, 350 and 450.
The Sevens, 4 June
It’s not too late to put on your running shoes (as registrations tend to be open till pretty late). The 3km and 10km run at The Sevens is open to runners of all abilities (parents with strollers are welcome too) provided they register here. Finishing the race could earn you your very first medal.
Dubai World Trade Centre, 23 June – 2 July (04 388 5191)
The ten day event (from 8pm – 2am each day) will feature retailers from different parts of the world offering a variety of products to shoppers. Think fashion, beauty, furniture, home appliances, electronics and even food. Tickets are priced at AED 5 for children aged 5 – 12 years and AED 10 for adults.
