A devastating suicide bomb attack in Lahore, Pakistan today has resulted in the deaths of over 60 people and injuries to over 300 people, say latest reports.
The attack took place at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, where families, mostly women and children, were enjoying a leisurely Sunday afternoon. Rescuers say the blast occurred at the central gate of the park, near the motorcycle parking stand.
This attack comes just days after the deadly attacks in Brussels left 28 people dead.
Shortly after the attack, the Burj Khalifa was lit up in the national colours of Belgium and in the colours of the European Union as a demonstration of solidarity with those impacted.
It wasn’t just the Burj Khalifa, monuments around the world lit up in a symbolic show of support.

We wonder, will the Burj Khalifa light up in solidarity with Pakistan’s grief?
People all over the world have taken to social media to ask this question of their own countries.
Given the UAE has far more people of Pakistani origin in Dubai than Belgians, and we’re physically much closer to Pakistan, does that mean we should make a bigger effort to show our support for those impacted in Pakistan? We’re hoping that monuments here and indeed around the world will show their support, because the lives lost today are as important as those lost last week.
Our thoughts are with the people of Lahore.
