This would be funny if it weren’t so true.
Faisal Hashmi, a filmmaker and screen writer, told his Twitter followers that his latest screenplay has one major flaw… The current lack of Skype in the UAE makes his story a science fiction rather than true life.
The latest screenplay I’m writing has a character in Dubai Skyping with his family back home.
I just realized that makes it a science fiction film.

Change Skyping to BOTIM-ing, doesn’t quite have the same ring as Skyping I suppose…. ????♀️

Recent reports suggest Microsoft is in talks with UAE authorities over Skype ban.
With the aim of lifting the ban on Skype, which is a Microsoft service, a spokesperson for Microsoft said;
“We have been working closely with the local authorities towards gaining a better understanding of the local requirements in an effort to get Skype unblocked. We are passionate about the benefits that Skype offers to our users around the world by facilitating communication and enabling collaboration.”
And with Microsoft expanding in the region later this year, rolling out two new data centres, it could just become a reality.
