A go-to spot for first dates, small-talk is nigh-on impossible on a busy night in this upmarket bar but the great people watching more than makes up for it.

9. For a casual drink – Axe House, JLT

New to the scene but we’re calling it; Axe House in JLT, (formerly Cocktail Kitchen) is a brilliant spot for a casual drink. 

With two exits, you’re escape route is clear if things go south (cat fishing is real people).

8. For the ultimate fun first Tinder date – Motiongate

Motiongate is an underrated date spot, and if you want to show your date just how fun you really are (*note you don’t actually need to much fun at all) take them here.

7. For sunset drinks – 40 Kong, The H Hotel

This trendy bar has a beaut cocktail menu, and the view of the city is so impressive…even if your date is not.

6. For a cheap date – Chalco’s Mexican Grill

Cheap, cheerful and most importantly DELICIOUS, the burritos here are just the best.

‘Cos not all dates need to revolve around food and drink yano…This is a flippin’ fantastic first date plan (even if our attempts at puns are not)

4. If you want to impress – Folly, Souk Madinat

What if you JUST KNOW that this will be the last first date of your life.

There are almost too many beautiful spots to choose from, but we reckon the rooftop lounge at Folly is spot on for dinner (foodies, you’ll be seriously impressed) or sunset drinks.

3. If you’re both fans of shisha – Siddharta Lounge

An extravagant choice, but who cares when the shisha options are this good.

2. For a meal in a buzzy resto – Miss Tess, Business Bay

If and when conversation fails, you can at least turn to the resto entertainment for a laugh.
