Dubai Tour kicked off yesterday and continues until February 10.

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai who himself is a keen rider, the best cyclists from all over the world have travelled to Dubai for this one, including Mark Cavendish who got off to a shaky start yesterday and Marcel Kittle (who hit headlines last year after getting involved in a bust-up mid race).

It is the fifth year of Dubai Tour on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) calendar, a governing body that oversees international cycling events.

The first stage ‘Nakheel’ passed many recognisable landmarks including Global Village and the Expo 2020 site

Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen took home the first leg of the tour

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai was spotted watching the cyclists during the first leg

The second leg has already begun and riders face a lengthy cycle
