There’s nothing
like an intensive foot-rub to make the week’s stresses fall away, and leave you
feeling like a brand new human. If you’re partial to a spot of sole comfort,
then here are six of the best places to get your zen on. After all, there’s no
time like ‘me time’.
Feet Lounge,
located in Bay Avenue, is one of the most renowned places in Dubai to get your
tootsies taken care of. Using traditional Thai techniques, and the basic
principles of reflexology, the trained technicians use a variety of soothing
oils to address both relaxation and medical needs. With prices starting at just AED 110 for 30 minutes – staff here are fully trained and use only natural,
organic products to ensure your visit is as naturally stimulating as possible.
Just try not to fall asleep.
With four
locations in Dubai – Ibn Battuta, The Dubai Mall, The Greens and Jumeirah Town
Centre – this is one of the most easily found foot-focussed spas in Dubai.
Treatments take place in plush leather chairs, in private rooms and feature a
lovely foot wash (and what says ‘I love myself’ more than added rose petals?)
followed by however many minutes you choose of pure, unadulterated reflexology.
At AEDÂ 100 for 30 minutes it’s the ideal way to break up one of those all-day
mall visits, and ensure you come back feeling great, as opposed to as if you’ve
just been run over by about 50 clothes rails.
With four
branches in Dubai – from the popular JBR to Wasl Square, Abu Hail and Uptown
Mirdiff – this is the bargain of the bunch with a 30 minute rub setting you
back Dhs90 or just AEDÂ 130 for 60 minutes. While reclining in one of their big
armchairs, feet are given a relaxing bubbly soak before being expertly pampered
using traditional reflexology practices. At a price this good, you could even
justify making this rejuvenating ritual a weekly treat…it’s just good maths.
It pains us to
tell you about this place, because it’s kind of been our little secret for a
while. But – it’s about time you knew how great it was. Located in what looks
from the outside like an office, in Tecom’s Business Central Tower, Orange Beauty Spa is a small slice of tranquility with both excellent service and
value. The foot massages received here (AEDÂ 120 for 30 minutes) are some of the
best we’ve had in the UAE (and we’ve tried a lot) plus the chairs are huge and
old-school, like your own private sofa. One of the best bits is that it’s
always been on the quiet side, though now the cat is out of the bag, we doubt
it’ll stay that way for long.
With 13 locations
in Dubai, Dreamworks are something of relaxation experts. Their inexpensive
approach to the holistic benefits of massage are great in a ‘does exactly what
it says on the tin’ way. From AEDÂ 75 for 15 minutes, through to AEDÂ 150 for 30
minutes and AED 260 for 60 minutes – their foot massage offering is relatively
purse-friendly without being badly executed. Using reflexology practices,
pressure points are targeted and soles soothed to leave you feeling energised.
With so many branches, there’s usually a good chance of scoring a last-minute
booking too.
Forget cocooning
yourself away in a luxury hotel for a spa retreat, although that is obviously
quite nice. No – there are immersive and wholly relaxing urban spas, such as
Sensasia, in our midst – for when we need some TLC but also need to shop for a
new top at the same time. With four locations in the UAE (our favourite is the
original premises in The Village, Jumeirah) you can pop in for an expert 30
minute foot massage (called the Sole To Seoul) for just AEDÂ 285. Yes, it’s more
expensive than some of the others listed, but the setting, treatment and
knowledge of the staff rival some of the biggest names in pampering in Dubai.
And you know, you’re worth it.
