It’s Earth day today and this one day out of the year tries very hard to shed light on the worldwide pollution problem and bring some love to our big’ol planet. 

Our Earth is extremely versatile in all its offerings but over the past decade, it’s been proven that there’s been an abuse in resources that has created a worldwide epidemic. 

So let’s not threaten our planet’s survival anymore and engage in these 5 very simple activities to help our planet

These might be small gestures but will make a difference in the long-run and what better time to start than on the day dedicated to our mother Earth!

1. Turn off the tap water

A small but extremely significant method to make a difference is to make sure you’re not abusing water.

Whether it’s at home, work or at school always make sure to turn off the water tap when you’re not using it. 

So that means when you’re washing your hands, brushing your teeth or taking a shower, make sure you turn the tap off until you need it again!

2. Switch to electric cars

This may be an expensive option, but if you’re looking to change your car any time soon and looking to invest in a car then perhaps you can opt for an electric one instead. 

These cars run solely on electricity and Dubai has made various efforts to promote them by installing charging stations all over the city!

So you won’t have to worry about where to fill up your car anymore OR wait in those ridiculous queues at the gas stations. 

3. Walk to work

A cheaper, healthier and environmentally friendly transportation option is opting to walk rather than take a car to your next destination. 

If where you are heading is close by, then grab your sport shoes, a good attitude and a cap and make the best of Dubai’s remaining good weather! 

And if you’re not about that walking life then maybe try carpooling with your friends and family members to avoid so much gas emission. 

4. Volunteer to clean

There are loaaaads of volunteer groups that you can join which are all about that environmentally friendly lifestyle in such a busy city. 

Two years ago, 6,000 volunteers picked up almost 20 tonnes of waste from Dubai’s Nad Al Sheba.

So why not join a group and volunteer some time out of the week to go on location and clean up!

5. Recycle

This option is more of a lifestyle than a day activity but boyyy does it make a difference! 

Separating your trash and disposing of it properly will take up so little time out of your day and it’ll be extremely helpful for the future. 

And with various companies that are trying to embed more of this lifestyle in the country and with designated recycle bins around major locations, it’ll be hard for you not to.  

So let’s make this day count!
