Eight of the best steaks to try in Dubai

Avatar

With so many great spots on the culinary scene we know the ‘best steak’ is always going to be a controversial list…But here it is anyway. Don’t agree with our picks? Let us know your favourite in the comments. Either we haven’t tried the place before (unlikely) or the spot just didn’t make the cut (pun very much intended).

1 – Toro Toro

This south American themed eatery, run by internationally acclaimed chef Richard Sandovalin, is for serious carnivores. Located in Dubai’s Grosvenor house, its interiors are bold and marbled – just like the steaks themselves. And for anyone interested in an Insta snap: the cast iron bulls in the entrance make for a great one.

2 – Cut by Wolfgang Puck

If a stunning view and a reputation for excellence interests you, then Cut by Wolfgang Puck should be right up your alley. With exceptional views of the Burj Khalifa and an incredible variety of different cuts of steak, it’s no wonder this is one of the cities hottest steakhouses.

3 – The Hide

While the menu has all the usual favourites; T-bone, rump and fillet steaks, Al Qasr’s latest ‘meatery’ The Hide also boasts the ‘forgotten cuts’ favoured by the butcher. With everything from the flank, to hanger and flat iron the beef is served with unusual accompaniments, such as Irish oysters with seaweed mignonette. A nice change to the run-of-the-mill.

4 – Seafire at Atlantis The Palm

This is where the most discerning of meat lovers can sink their teeth into some of the cities most expensive cuts – the AED 980 Mater Kobe Wagyu signature fillet, which has a marble score of more than nine. For the incredible melt-in-the-mouth texture and flavour you can’t even imagine – it’s (nearly) worth every dirham.

5 – Ruth’s Chris

An American institution, this steak house is now proving itself as a powerhouse on the Dubai steak scene for it’s reliably delicious rumps and faultless service. Thanks to it’s private dining rooms, this is a perfect place for big gatherings…or to host celebs (Jenson Button was spotted there recently).

6 – West 14th

If you like your steak by the sea then head to West 14th; a family friendly restaurant with year round holiday vibes. They serve up all the classic cuts with the usual accompaniments of asparagus, mash and macaroni – hey…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. 7 – Gaucho

Gaucho, an Argentinian restaurant in the DIFC, knows good steak. Enjoy an ‘asado’ (barbecue) in this slick setting as the knowledgeable staff guide you through each cut and cooking style before serving you up a perfectly seasoned piece of meat.

8 – Butcha

A relative newbie on the JBR block, this relaxed restaurant is fast-becoming a hopspot for carnivores in the know. With trendy interiors, an expert staff and perfectly tender steaks available you would be silly not to try this place out.
