5 GORG Pavilions You Can’t Afford To Miss On Your Next Visit To Expo 2020 Dubai

Avatar

This New Year’s Eve, Expo 2020 Dubai is the place to be with celebrations lasting for a good 13 hours. There’s of course a huge line up of events too that night. Most of us will probably be here for the festivities, so we thought we’d let you in on some GORG pavilions to visit while you’re there.

Russia

The pavilion’s form is said to be that of two colliding domes. The vibrant lines pay homage to Russia’s avant-garde tradition. They definitely do add up in making the pavilion stand out from the smorgasbord of pavilions here.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s pavilion was the surprise package this year. The Saudis have clearly invested a lot and they’re reaping the returns as it’s one of the most popular pavilions at the expo. It’s also rather enormous, comprising of six stories and is the 2nd largest pavilion here. The pavilion has already scooped up three world records, including the largest interactive digital mirror, the most extensive interactive light floor and the longest interactive water curtain. There’s an Al Baik outlet really close to the pavilion as well. How can you be visiting a Saudi pavilion and not have Al Baik afterwards for that full Saudi experience?

UAE

The largest pavilion of them all, the hosts have done about everything right with their supersized pavilion. Laid out in the shape of the falcon that’s about to take flight, they’ve done a pretty interesting job on embodying what the UAE is all about. Those large wings of the pavilion do move, and you should absolutely take your phones out when they do.

Japan

When visiting Japan’s pavilion, keep an eye out for futuristic things that you’ve not seen elsewhere. You could easily be staring at the origami-inspired façade of the structure for hours. They’ve got a nice sushi resto here too, ‘cus the Japanese experience isn’t complete without sushi, now is it? Did we mention how fab of a job they’ve done on the video projection on ultra-fine mist?

UK

The UK’s pavilion at almost every expo is the one to look out for. They’ve delivered this time around too. It is a wonderful piece of art that’s based on a project by Stephen Hawking. Architecture students, you hearing this?
