A Beautiful Spectacle Called The Perseid Meteor Shower Will Be Visible In The UAE Today

If you’re a fan of the stars, you may want to set an alarm on your phone for today the UAE skies will glimmer in a meteor shower that will peak at night (Thursday).

According to reports, sky gazers will enjoy the 2021 Perseid meteor shower from tonight until early Friday morning and there are several spots in the UAE where it will be more visible than others.

The Perseids from this meteor shower are pieces of the comet Sift-Tuttle which orbits the Sun only ONCE every 133 years 

Wow! This passing shower also passes WAY beyond Pluto’s orbit. Oh, the universe we live in and all its glory.

This yearly occurrence can be seen, quite clearly, in a moonless sky with almost 100 meteors visible in an hour, according to Khaleej Times.

The Dubai Astronomy Group has already planned a gathering to catch the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight at Jebel Jas in Ras Al Khaimah

…which makes sense since it’s the highest peak in the country. However, people just need a clear sky, no special equipments, to view the shower.

This means stepping away from the city lights and somewhere in complete darkness. You need darkness, patience and excitement- of course.

The moon will set at 9.45pm giving the most ideal condition for the meteor shower show soon after
