A Talented Dubai Makeup Artist Is Bashing Stereotypes With Every Single Brush stroke
Vishan is a seriously talented Dubai based Srilankan makeup artist, who’s using his platform to raise awareness for important social issues.
This 16-year-old faced a lot of hardships and criticism given to him because of the way he expressed his art. Shawn is a budding makeup artist and according to him, makeup is an art form which does not have to have any discrimination and is worth doing if people are comfortable and it also portrays who you are.
“I’ve always wanted to express my art and emotions through a platform that would give me a stand and also let society know that it’s not taboo for men to become makeup artists, art does not see discrimination but rather sees inner beauty and creativity” says Vishan.

The backbone of Vishan’s makeup career started in 2018. He was supported by his friends and family in tackling the many obstacles he faced when he began. Many brands were not willing to work with him as he was a brown male makeup artist. It was also very difficult to purchase makeup products as he did not have a lot of financial support.
He’s now using various platforms in an incredible way, promoting important social issues and showing off his beautiful artwork.
