It was a normal day, until a Dubai resident who was on his way to Al Qudra spotted a kitten stuck on the bridge. He was heading for a ride and took the exit to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road from Al Asayel street.
It was 8 pm and while he was on his way, he spotted a tiny kitten sitting on the side of the road, on top of the massive fly over bridge.
He then pulled over and tried to get close to the kitten to help him out. However, the kitten got scared and ran into the service tunnel.
The resident immediately called the RTA emergency line and gave all of the details. Within 40 minutes, he received a call from an RTA saying a team of 5 people were enroute and will try to help him out.
Their foreman (Naresh) then told him that he has called for an articulated crane and another 2 teams that will be blocking off one lane of the bridge.
However, as the debris was clear, the kitten got spooked and ran to the other side of the bridge. The team clearly needed another plan.
There was no way for a person to fit into that little tunnel, and so the team had to figure an alternative to push the kitten towards the crane through the tunnel.
The team then made a VERY long stick out of broom handles, attached a plastic bag on the end for cushioning and tried to gently push the kitten towards one of the teams in the cranes.
Annnddd…. IT WORKED 🙂
The resident was received and thanked RTA for their time, effort and resources that were spent on rescuing the little kitty.
