Abu Dhabi recently announced new rules for commuters entering the emirate from within the UAE from Sunday, December 19. The new rules are put in place to tackle the spread of the pandemic. Here’s what you need to know in case you’re driving down to Abu Dhabi anytime soon.
Starting Sunday, December 19, those travelling to Abu Dhabi from within the UAE will need to undergo an EDE scan. Thee scanners will help detect individuals who might possibly be infected with Covid. Positive cases will then be referred to a testing center, where they will undergo a free antigen test, with results given within 20 minutes.
The process applies only to those entering Abu Dhabi within the UAE.
It applies to anyone arriving to Abu Dhabi from within the UAE.
If the test is positive, those who are residents of Abu Dhabi must follow the emirate’s health guidelines, which means they must isolate for ten days, and they will be fitted with a tracking wristband for this duration.
Non-residents must return to the emirate from which they travelled and notify its local health authority of their test result.
Drivers and passengers are not required to show a negative PCR test to enter Abu Dhabi, which was the case between July 2020 and September 2021.
