On December 22, the Taliban government in Afghanistan announced that women are banned from accessing higher education in universities. This news broke the hopes and dreams of several Afghan women.
The announcement was made in December last year, and by August 23, 2023- all preparations had been made. Dubai was ready to welcome all 100 female students.

The students sent voice notes to Mr Habtoor asking for guidance on what to do next.
Extremely disappointed by the turn of events, Khalaf Al Habtoor took to X to share his anger. In the video, he is also reaching out to the international community and the Taliban government to interfere and help the women come to Dubai.
This stands as a profound tragedy, a blow against the principles of humanity, education, equality, and justice. I request all involved parties to quickly step in and help rescue and assist these struggling students.
