More people have climbed Mount Everest or travelled into space than have rowed unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean, but a UAE-based team are on a mission to take on one of the world’s toughest endurance feats, flying the flag for the UAE while they do it.

They’ll face intense solitude, 40 feet-high waves and extended sleep deprivation, and who knows, they might even meet some mermaids along the way.

The team’s mission is to raise awareness about marine waste and they’ve partnered up with a UN Environment Programme to spread the message, along with taking on a non-stop tour of UAE schools to bring attention to the horrific impact waste has on our oceans.

Watch: Toby Gregory of the Arabian Ocean Team joins The Lovin Dubai show to talk about the 50-day, 5,000 kilometers Atlantic Ocean challenge that lays ahead

Alongside a hectic training schedule, the team is busy raising awareness about ocean conservation to schools across the country
