Abu Dhabi has just received the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Bike City label – this is BIG news in the cycling world as it means Abu Dhabi has become Asia’s FIRST UCI Bike City, joining other established ‘Bike Cities’ like Bergen, Copenhagen, Paris and Glasgow.
Abu Dhabi has been recognised for its mega achievement promoting the sport and to celebrate receiving such an accolade, Bike Abu Dhabi has been set up to promote the incredible cycling opportunities across the Emirate.

Abu Dhabi’s big aim is to become a global hub for cycling, and in line with that, there are numerous new tracks and events in progress
Abu Dhabi Loop – A new 109km segregated cycle way that will connect key destinations across the city. The project forms part of the planned extension of Abu Dhabi’s existing 300km cycle network to more than 1,000km.
Velodrome Hudayriyat – A new 3,500 spectator capacity arena for track racing will be built on Hudayriyat Island.
Abu Dhabi Al Ain Classic – A one-day amateur event will launch in 2022
The capital will host key international UCI events, including – The 2022 and 2024 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships, as well as the 2028 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
