We can all agree that there’s a lot of waiting involved with taking public transportation and wouldn’t it be nice to have something beautiful to look at? Well, what a coincidence that there is a series of public art installations right now in Jumeira!
The art installations are launched by Brand Dubai in partnership with RTA, exclusively for Jumeirah’s bus stops and this is all part of the Jumeirah Project. As a way to celebrate the neighourhood being a cultural hub, campaigns are being created to complement Jumeirah’s brand identity in line with the vision of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The art experiences at the bus stops take viewers on a unique storytelling experience by highlighting memories from Jumeirah’s past. The unique installations enrich public spaces in Jumeirah and provide residents and visitors opportunities to closely engage with art and creativity,
Shaima Al Suwaidi, City Branding Manager of Brand Dubai, said.
Those wondrous creations are developed by international artists and you can find them along Jumeira Road from the Dubai Canal to Jumeirah Al Naseem. They add so much colour to the streets and are super Instagrammable, you might just miss the bus while snapping a pic!
If you’ve lived in Dubai for a long time, some of these artworks will just make sense. Jellyfish? Yep, commonly found at certain times of the year in Jumeirah beach. The glass marbles we all used to collect back in the day, were known as Teela, which was a popular game among Emirati children. Other installations like the paper boat, robots, and coffee cups are to honour Dubai’s heritage and celebrate its vision for the future.
