The ‘Detained in Dubai’ account has been removed from Twitter, along with the personal account of its founder, Radha Stirling.
The UK based organisation has been linked to a number of high-profile anti-Dubai cases including, most recently, a British air-hostess who has been held on suspected drug charges, and the news of the Twitter suspension has been praised by many.
The organisation’s website states its top priority is assisting its clients to secure the best possible outcome to complex UAE legal issues, “regardless of how the odds are stacked against them” and it has previously been suspected of profiteering from similar cases, with rumours that the organisation can accept sums of up to AED150,000 for consultation and representation services.
The organisation has had links to several infamous cases, which are then splashed across UK tabloids, including the Jamie Harron case, (the Scottish man who was found guilty of taking part in a bar brawl) the Ellie Holman drama (a woman who tried to enter the UAE on an expired passport) and, most recently, a British air hostess who has been held on drug charges.
This Saturday, Gulf News broke the story that both the Twitter accounts of the organisation and its founder Radha Stirling have been removed and the public are applauding the suspension of an account run by a woman with a, “truly unhinged vendetta against Dubai” (Twitter).
Detained in Dubai labels itself as an authority on UAE law, adding it can ‘assist media outlets’ with info from their data.
Gulf News reported neither Detained In Dubai or Radha Stirling have any involvement with the case.
“…But I’m so glad to hear this. Radha Stirling is a charlatan and Detained in Dubai is not a non-profit. They have also been struck off the Companies House register twice”
“…truly unhinged vendetta against Dubai and the UAE is immeasurable.” Via @Punnilingus1
