We KNOW we should recycle batteries, but have you ever thought of why it’s so darn important?
It’s likely that the battery you drop in the bin contains toxic chemicals, featuring all of the nasties like lead, lithium or sulfuric acid. And if this battery ends up in a dump, chances are, those pollutants will leak, causing untold damage to the world around us like contaminating groundwater and damaging fragile ecosystems. EEk, no thanks!
No one else is doing this and it’s great to see local companies thinking of innovative ways to help residents recycle.
Hitches & Glitches customers will get a branded box, this is where you’ll store your alkaline, lithium, ion, nickel or cadmium batteries (there are the most common household batteries) and on your next scheduled Hitches & Glitches visit, the team will pick ’em up.
The batteries are then delivered to their partners Enviroserve, one of the largest e-waste recycling companies in the world, where the batteries will be processed and diverted from landfill. Easy peasy!
In line with government initiatives to move towards sustainability, Hitches & Glitches is committed to protecting the environment. To receive a box, you simply need to be a customer of Hitches & Glitches.
The team provides a wide range of services for both residential and commercial. Here are some of the residential services. See the full range of commercial services here
