Drug smugglers, using traditional wooden dhows to enter Dubai Creek, have been foiled by Dubai Creek.
Operation “LiStah” carried out by the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, in collaboration with Dubai Police Control and Investigation team and the general department of protective security and emergency and Dubai Customs foiled two operations in Al Ras, Dubai Creek.
12 Asian national suspects have been arrested and a total of 194kg worth of drugs seized.
The smugglers hid narcotics by modifying the structure of the first dhow, hiding narcotics in between wood panels on the deck of the boat. Police found a variety of drugs including cannabis, crystal, opium, and heroin, according to Maj-Gen Al-Mansouri, Assistant Commandant for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police.

A suspect was found to have ‘nine cylindrical plastic containers, containing large quantities of cannabis, crystal drugs and a scale’ in his home, confirming the suspicion that the received drugs would be stored and spread among the UAE community.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, praised the teams, the investigative skills and the professionalism with which the operation was handled.
