Dubai Resident Warns People About A Fraudulent Phone Call Claiming They Were Dubai Police

Avatar

Dubai Police have repeatedly issued multiple advisories warning people about fraudulent calls and messages. And now, a Dubai resident has warned people about a fake call from a number, verifying personal information.

The call was from a U.S.A or a Canadian number, pretending they were from CID or Dubai Police

They even verified some personal information with her and also sent an OTP using the Dubai Police system.

So, if you got OTPs from Dubai Police through an SMS but you didn’t try to verify anything, RUN IT’S A SCAM! Although getting a text message from the police seems legit as day, you have to be double careful because scams are everywhere these days.

How can you tell it’s a scam?

  1. Dubai Police will never call to ask for an OTP
  2. Dubai Police will never call from a 050 number or any other variation of that.

Besides, they also called one of her clients and were about to take 5000 USD from his bank

The resident wishes to raise awareness that such people are pretending to call from the Dubai Police and its best to cut the call and not divulge any personal details.
