Many of us experience drowsiness or have a hard time concentrating during Ramadan due to the change in eating and sleeping habits.
Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) recognise that this may very well affect drivers who are fasting. They began distributing awareness leaflets along with Iftar meals under the theme ‘Enjoy Your Iftar and Focus on Your Way’.
They are also urged to stop driving when they hear the call for Maghreb prayer to have a light Iftar, before resuming the journey.
#RTA has directed motorists against driving while feeling exhausted or tired, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, where the concentration of some motorists drops due to the change in eating and sleeping habits.

Concentration levels can fluctuate as those who are fasting sleep later than usual to have Suhour. RTA’s initiative is also organised with driving institutes in Dubai. Any trainee driver who passes their driving test will be presented with an Iftar voucher with instructions on safe driving.
Most traffic accidents that take place during Ramadan, are attributed to the lack of leaving a safe distance between vehicles. Drivers are also urged to ensure their ACs are on as hot conditions can increase the feeling of exhaustion.
