Dubai International Airport is set to witness a drastic surge this weekend, ahead of the festive season. Emirates airline expects over 1.1 million passengers to pass through Terminal 3 at DXB, ahead of the busy travel period which is set to run until 21 December.
This weekend alone, DXB is set to welcome close to 250,000 travellers departing from Terminal 3. Emirates also issued a set of guidelines for those travelling. The airline in a statement said that passengers travelling through DXB must be at the airport three hours prior to their flight departure.

Emirates has asked passengers to be at the airport for super early at the airport (at three hours before) to make travel a whole lot easier. And just a heads up: any customers who show up less than 60 minutes before their flight timing will not be accepted on the flight. So, best to be there on time!
Passengers can use the self-service bag drop machines and check-in kiosks available at Terminal 3 to skip long queues. Alternatively, you can also check in online up to 48 hours and until 90 minutes before the flight departure. Those using the self-service kiosk must still complete their immigration formalities no later than 60 minutes before their flight departure.
Passengers can also use Emirates’ biometric path in Terminal 3 for a contactless journey from specific check-in desks, Emirates lounges and boarding gates.
Meanwhile, Etihad Airways is also expecting a significant surge at the Abu Dhabi International Airport this weekend. With Formula 1 season finale happening right now at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and schools breaking for the end-of-year holidays, people are now confident to travel.
Etihad advices passengers to arrive early at the airport and also get ‘verified to fly’. Approved passengers can then use fast-track ‘Verified to Fly’ desks at the airport, or the self-service kiosks.
