Furrballs Dog shelter, a pet adoption service in Dubai, is closing its doors because they don’t have the funds to continue.
In an Instagram post that announced the sad closure, they share that the last two years have been a challenge.
Financial challenges, including losing rescue rates at the vet, losing credit opportunities, and losing a main member of the team are all reasons attributed to the shut down.
They have one person taking care of 18 animals, and they say it’s simply not enough.
We have around 18 dogs at the shelter and one handler who isn’t doing such a good job and We cannot afford another. Having one person do everything isn’t doable at all, animals are falling sick, and some are being neglected. Not intentionally, but it’s just all too much for one person to manage.
The post continues to say it’s unfair for their standards to fall, unfair to let the animals suffer.

Sad and unfortunate that we are having to announce this. But we feel it’s the right thing to be done for the time being. The passed two years has been a challenge for us to keep up with rescuing. Everything just hits us from left side and center. Loosing one of our main members that assisted with the rescues was an even bigger hit. Loosing our rescue rates at the vets we have worked with for years has also had a big effect on us. No longer having a credit facility which means everything has to be paid on the spot.
Rescue isn’t a one man job, nor can you just one day decide to walk away from the animals. I’m reality there is only so much you can do.
So we are making this post to let you know that we are officially stopping rescuing. We have around 18 dogs at the shelter and one handler who isn’t doing such a good job and We cannot afford another. Having one person do everything isn’t doable at all, animals are falling sick, and some are being neglected. Not intentionally, but it’s just all too much for one person to manage. So for the better good we have to bow our heads down and say we failed. We tried to hold on as long as we could, but the quality of care the animals are getting isn’t to our standards and it’s not fair, it’s not fair on them to suffer.
It kills us to take this decision.
So our ultimate goal is to get all our dogs at the shelter into long term foster homes, and work harder on finding them homes. Under no circumstance will we be taking on any new rescues or can we assist. We are sorry we really are.
In the mean time you can help by sharing the current dogs we have that are looking for their forever homes.
