The Ramadan fridge initiative is one that has been relatively popular in Dubai during the Holy Month… until the pandemic, of course. Now that the world is recovering from the pandemic and lifting COVID-19 guidelines, things have gotten back to normal-ish.

The Ramadan Sharing Fridges initiative has been going strong, giving food to the needy for years. In 2019 this has come to a halt and did not start up again due to the pandemic.

All charity initiatives in Dubai need to be pre-approved and have all the necessary permits

Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department reminded residents that those who wish to distribute iftars must have permission.

There is one however that is operating in Media One

Media One Hotel’s sharing fridge has returned for its 5th year. You can find it outside the office entrance and it’s restocked daily with fresh fruits, soft drinks and water bottles, in accordance with the Dubai Municipality guidelines.
