Life in the Fast Lane: One Dubai Dad’s Journey Through Advertising, Supercars and Biking

Anika Eliz Baby

One of the best ways to escape the mundane corporate life is simply this: staying fit.

Johnny Khazzoum is a seasoned professional in the advertising industry with a notable career spanning over 25 years…but more than this, he is a dedicated family man, supercar racer and biker!

“I’m a family man, deeply embedded in the lives of my five family members. We share a passion for an active lifestyle, not just as a philosophy but as a way of life.”

“Racing for me is not just about the adrenaline rush; it’s a cerebral pursuit.”

Khazzoum’s passion for supercar racing ignited during his childhood, driven by an innate curiosity about the technical and engineering aspects of these vehicles.

Eventually, he would go on to participate in the Gulf Radical Cup and create a significant milestone in his racing career. Talking about the preparation that goes into pulling off these feats, he explains:

“From fitness and nutrition to focus and data analysis, it’s a holistic approach that shapes not just the race but my lifestyle.”

But he didn’t stop there!

Over time, Johnny found himself venturing into cycling and finding striking similarities to motorsports

Although cycling began casually, it quickly evolved into a profound passion.

“I was struck by the similarities between cycling and motorsports – the technicalities of aerodynamics, the importance of fitness, and the strategic elements.”

In fact, cycling was aiding his motorsports- and vice versa!

“The skills I’ve honed in supercar racing surprisingly translate well to cycling. Focus, decision-making, understanding dynamics – these are crucial in both sports. My racing experience enhances my cycling, especially in terms of safety and alertness. In both disciplines, being acutely aware of my surroundings ensures not just performance but safety as well.”

Johnny describes cycling as a hobby that soon turned into an integral part of his life.

“A source of joy, and a means to connect with a community that values health, teamwork, and shared goals.”

Living in a city like Dubai has allowed Johnny to take his interests a step further

Johnny credits Dubai and its commitment to safety, vibrant atmosphere and continuous development for nurturing his passion for motorsports and cycling.

“The city offers many opportunities, from the beautifully designed cycling tracks in Meydan and Al Qudra to world-class racing facilities like the Dubai Autodrome.”

This passion also led him to join the community cycling group ‘Beyond the Bike’

It started when he began research to purchase his bike.

“The approach from the store and the cycling community made me more enthusiastic about deepening everything involving cycling.”

Doing things as a group has always made everything better. It was the same for Johnny too!

“The diversity of the rides and community that Beyond the Bike created, makes me fall in love more with the sport.”

And you, dear reader, are welcome to join too:

“Joining Beyond the Bike is easy and rewarding. If you’re passionate about cycling, come to Beyond the Bike & Giant in Motor City. We welcome all fitness levels and are here to guide and answer your questions. It’s not just joining a group; it’s becoming part of a community passionate about cycling.”
