UAE airlines Emirates and Etihad will resume flight schedules to Nigeria, according to the Nigerian President

As per Reuters, last year, the UAE halted visa issuance to Nigerian citizens following the suspension of Dubai’s Emirates flights due to challenges in repatriating funds from Nigeria. Additionally, Etihad Airlines had discontinued its flights to Nigeria during the same period.

The president’s spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale said in a statement,

As negotiated between the two Heads of State, this immediate restoration of flight activity, through these two airlines and between the two countries, does not involve any immediate payment by the Nigerian government.

The global airline industry group IATA also said,

Nigeria has withheld revenue worth more than $700 million earned by international carriers operating in the country.

UAE’s Dubai has long been a favored destination for Nigerian tourists

However, visa issuance to Nigerians and citizens of 17 other African countries, like Uganda and Ghana, were abruptly suspended last year without clear reasons provided.

So CONGRATS to Nigeria’s nation and thank you to UAE’s rulers!
