BEEP BEEP! Dubai residents, get ready for a taste of the future! Self-driving taxis are cruising into town, promising futuristic and fun-filled rides as the city’s autonomous vision unfolds…
Moreover, in the first week of October, Dubai plans to introduce five driverless taxis to cover the 8km route between Etihad Museum and Dubai Water Canal along Jumeirah Road.
These autonomous taxis, operated by the US-based self-driving technology company Cruise, will undergo a trial phase without passengers until December, with a limited number of individuals scheduled to experience them. Therefore, full commercial operations will commence in the second half of 2024.

There are three tablets in the car: one in front, two in the back. Riders can start trips from the rear tablets, featuring maps and ride updates. There’s also a ceiling help button for instant Cruise support.
Cruise self-driving taxis use over 40 sensors for a 360-degree view, even spotting objects hundreds of feet ahead and around double-parked cars. These sensors, including LiDAR, cameras, and radars, provide data on pedestrians, bikes, cars, signs, road conditions, and more.
