Yep, yep, it’s happening peeps, the future is now and the future of travel is like now now

If you don’t already know, GITEX is a trade show for technology and innovation. This year was its 42nd edition and it ran from 10-14 October.

Also, thanks to the legendary vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, GITEX is now the world’s largest tech show. Bet you didn’t know thattt. The ruler of Dubai made an appearance at the trade show on its second day.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, alongside his brother His Highness Maktoum bin Mohammed Al Maktoum visited GITEX on its last day

“Bright minds gathered in Dubai, where the journey to the future begins,” Faz3 wrote on his Instagram

GITEX had many interesting and futuristic machinations on display including an electric flying car.

Chinese company Xpeng Aeroht for the first time, unveiled to the public their proud creation, The Xpeng 2. The driverless, two-seater flying car, made a test drive (or dare we say, test fly) and soared over an awed audience for 90 minutes.

Of course, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, made a pit-stop at the flying car display before moving on to check out other innovations.

Are you thinking what we’re thinking – flying cars in Dubai? Honestly, it doesn’t seem that unlikely

With a max speed of 130km/hr and ZERO carbon dioxide emissions, it is clearly eco-friendly – except to birds maybe.

Whatever happens, one thing is certain: the Jetson’s sort of flying car future is no longer future. It’s real and it’s happening and some day may just be as ordinary as road cars are now.
