On January 1, Sharjah introduced a 4-day work week. A bold move that could’ve either caused employees to progressively work smarter or have the opposite effect.
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired a meeting of the Executive Council on the morning of August 10, at the Ruler’s Office. During the meeting, the SEC reviewed a study of the new weekly work system.

The study focused on the impact of the new work week, in several government entities including the police sector, the environment, human resources, and the financial sector.
the study says there’s been a boost in employee productivity, work quality, efficiency, productivity, speed of completion, and levels of employee and customer satisfaction have increased!
There’s also been a decrease in traffic accidents deaths by up to 40% as opposed to the first quarter of 2021. The study also revealed that since the new work system was implemented, there’s been a decrease in the percentage of emissions of various gases, including carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide.
The study will carry on until the end of this year to identify and strengthen the positives and develop appropriate solutions for the negatives.
It’s absolutely time for Dubai to do it!
