Update: Kuwaiti Influencer Gets A 3-Year Prison Sentence Following A Tragic Car Accident Which Killed Two People
A Kuwaiti influencer has been sentenced to three years in prison following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two individuals. The verdict comes after the incident sent shockwaves through social media and public sentiment.
The security camera footage showed the influencer running a red light
On August 24, a tragic car crash occurred in Kuwait, with Kuwaiti influencer and fashionista Fatima Al-Momen at the wheel. The accident led to the loss of two lives and left two others injured. Security camera footage revealed that she had run a red light, shedding light on the unfortunate incident.
Al Momen was detained for a 10-day period on suspicion of 10 charges, which included manslaughter, reckless driving, and causing damage to both public and private property.
All of the charges included:
- Manslaughter
- Causing accidental injury
- Speeding
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics
- Crossing a red light
- Driving with invalid insurance
- Reckless driving
- Not carrying a license
- Damaging public property
- Damaging the property of others
The accident set off a wave of anger on Kuwaiti social media, as videos of the incident circulated and rumors swirled that Almomen might have been driving under the influence
However, according to a source cited by Al-Arabiya, laboratory analysis contradicted the stories circulating on social media, confirming that no drugs were found in Almomen’s car.
Moreover, the Public Prosecution declined a bail request for the influencer
On Wednesday, the Kuwaiti court sentenced Al Momen to three years in prison for manslaughter, along with additional charges from the Misdemeanor Court, which included running a red light and speeding.
