And Emirates knows our struggles, and has launched a new series of videos telling viewers how to get the ‘ultimate upgrade tip’.

The basic tips that are offered for how to get an upgrade are listed globally as: 

-Be sure to be a member of the loyalty programme (Skywards etc)

-You must purchase a flex ticket (saver tickets are not eligible for upgrades)

-It’s more likely if you are a solo traveller 

-Travel at quiet times 

-Emirates also emails travellers a few days prior to departure, offering discounted business class upgrades (depending on availability). Be sure to always check your emails before you check-in!
