A Sunday roast is a staple in the British diet ever since the time of King Henry the VII in 1485 when guards would have a roast beef after church. It was then something the entire nation got involved in by popping on the roast before going to church. Traditionally, it is roast beef but it can be a roast lamb or roast chicken.
