It’s already the end of January and if your New Years’ resolution to get fit is falling behind, then perhaps joining a running club with some friends will help you get motivated.
If you live in or around the Dubai area and you’re looking to lose weight or get fit on a budget, here are seven different running clubs that you can join today without spending a dirham!
Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you can choose from four different training programmes – 5km, 10km, half marathon and full marathon that can last for three, five or eight months.
Run by Dubai’s Urban Energy Fitness, the club provides Core strength classes, social breakfasts, injury prevention, training tips and pasta nights to prep for races.
Looking to inspire runners in the MENA region, Adidas Runners wants to change the way you run. New joiners can connect with running enthusiasts and complete a workout by joining the Adidas community.
Women can join the Women’s Run on Sundays at Kite beach, yoga fanatics can join Monday’s Sunrise Yoga at SkyDive Dubai or try the speed sessions every Wednesday on Dubai Marina – you can check out their weekly schedule on their website.
Nicknamed “A running club with a drinking problem,” this club meets every Sunday of the year to partake in the cardio exercise which is uniquely followed by some serious socialising over drinks.
Being one of the oldest running clubs in the city, Dubai Road Runners, keeps their runners motivated with their famous quote: “You don’t stop when you get old, you get old when you stop.”
You can join this running club every Saturday at 6:30pm at Safa Park or Sunday/Tuesday at 6pm at Al Barsha Park.
As their name suggests, this club offers striding (shuffling) depending on the fitness ability of the strider. New members are asked to contribute a fee of 10DHS to the club, which gets you water and energy drinks.
This club is open for anyone to join on Tuesdays at 6pm.
If just running isn’t enough, you can choose from six different running categories provided by the club: ‘Ready, Set, Go Run,’ ‘Home Run,’ ‘Speed Run,’ ‘Local Run,’ ‘H.I.T. and Run,’ ‘Long Run’ – these categories can include exploring fun new sights around the city or a mix of high intensity training into the cardio-filled workout.
With more than 30 clubs worldwide, Asics Front Runners, want people to share their passion for running and moving their minds and bodies.
You can join the running club by applying on their page.
