Dubai Has A New Law For Property Ads So Residents Won’t Be Misled Any Longer

Most often what you see is not what you get.

Think back to all those brochures or clippings that listed so many facilities and features for an apartment / villa that you were looking to rent / buy. And when you get to it, it’s another story. And perhaps a waste of a story because it doesn’t have half the stuff you read about.

All that will change from Sunday.

Under new rules, all property ads must be signed off by the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA)

All real estates agents have received a circular from Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghalita, CEO of the RERA.

Under the new law…

Brokers must apply to the Dubai Land Department for permits (for any real estate announcements) through its website or the e-service ‘Trakhees’. Approvals would take a maximum of two working days, but could be given immediately if all terms and conditions are met.

This applies to print, radio, web and social media ads. Not having a permit number on the listing could result in legal action.

This is brilliant for residents…

It cuts out property fraud and false advertising and assures people what’s being listed is genuine.

While property companies have welcomed the law, they do believe it’s a time-consuming procedure in the rentals and sales process.
