If you haven’t heard of Bull&Roo, you should thank the two guys behind the company, Tom Arnel and Sergio Lopez, for being the heroes who brought the edgy-dining scene culture to Dubai.
From the original Dubai breakfast/brunch spot Tom&Serg, quickly followed by The Sum of Us, Common Grounds, Muchachas and Brunswick SC, it’s been pretty much non-stop and just like the company, their disappearing pop-up Uncle Jheff won’t stand still for long.
And he’s back for a second go in the Sheraton MOE right now. What was the smoking section of Brunswick SC has been totally transformed into a tiny, dark underground den, complete with crate stacks for chairs, flashes of pink neon lights and live Dj most nights.
What’s amazing is, once you enter you immediately forget you’re just metres from a huge, bright mall thanks to the tunes, Thai vibes and buzzy crowd.
The hot, crispy prawn spring rolls come with this unreal lime and coconut dipping sauce that sets the bar for the rest of the meal…
For mains you won’t go wrong with the sticky, gooey ribs that come with a side of toasted rice while the papaya salad comes with a serious kick, steer clear unless you grew up with a side of chili at every meal.
Prices go from AED 35 for a salad to AED 76 for one of the larger plates. Or there’s an affordable mix of starters to nibble on if you just go for some drinks too.
Uncle Jheff is doing a disappearing act once again but there’s still time to hit the closing party. It’s happening next Friday 19th, doors open from 7pm for food and drinks, don’t expect an early night…
Summer is rearing it’s hot ugly head and we’re hunting for places that feel like we’re outside…without actually being outside obvs. Uncle Jheff is just the spot.
