The go-to’s for most are Whats App, We Chat, Facebook messenger or even Snapchat, which are all used globally, but now there’s a competitor to rival the greats: Make room on your phone for Sila, the messaging app from Palestinian start up AppMahal, created specially for the Arab region.
The special nuances that make it region specific. Sila will feature localised stickers, emoji’s and GIF’s that users here can relate to. The app will create a more personalised experience to lure users away from the instant chat giants.
Sila was only launched three months ago and already boasts more than 800,000 users and a 4.6 approval rating on Android Google play store.
The company has already raised $3 million, but aims to raise between $8 and $12 million in the second round of funding.
The marketing director from AppMahal Mona Haddad told Gulf News, “Despite the fact that there are huge chat apps in the market, many regional apps in India and China have proved that a regional chat app is a must and necessary to every region, Sila is going to be the one for the Arab region.”
