Last night saw friendly neighbours Saudi Arabia and UAE clash in the third round of the world cup qualifiers and the UAE came out on top.
The final score was 2 – 1.
The win means a lot for UAE as it slightly furthers our qualifying chances, while at the same time the loss weakened KSA’s chances (a win yesterday would have meant automatic entry for the team).
Both part of the Group B qualifiers; Japan leads the group, KSA are in joint second place with Australia, UAE is in fourth place, followed by Iraq and Thailand in fifth and sixth.
Next, we’re up against Iraq on Tuesday, September 5.
