A UAE Multimillionaire Just Won $1 Million In The Dubai Duty Free Raffle…After Trying For 25 Years
79-year-old Dubai businessman and former Bollywood film producer Rajan Lall, is quite the persistent one and here’s why we say it:
He bought the same raffle ticket for 25 years straight, bet his luck on it, and has finally hit the jackpot
And not just a small amount – he’s bagged $1 million through the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw.
A habit that started in 2000
Lall has been buying the AED1K Dubai Duty Free ticket nearly every time he travelled since 2000. And he travels a lot, sometimes two to three times a month. You can do the math with that.
Over AED125,000 spent solely on raffle tickets.
Most people would gasp at that number. “But it’s all worth it now,” he said in an interview with Khaleej Times. And honestly? Fair enough.
Never just a lucky chance
It’s not the first time Lall has “trusted the process”
He was betting on Dubai even when others doubted it. Back in 2001, he walked into Nakheel’s temporary port-a-cabin office and booked four villas on Palm Jumeirah.
At the time, Palm Jumeirah was still building to what it is today – No Instagram sunsets, not many luxury villas, just a very very bold idea.
“People laughed at me. They said the island would sink,” Lall recalled. But he had faith and believed HH Sheikh would put Dubai and the project on the world map.
Today, he still lives on the Palm.

So while many can all be rage baited by the idea that a multimillionaire just turned a million richer, he’s someone who’s persistently trusted and invested.
He’s a fighter in all senses, as well. Having survived four heart attacks, multiple stent procedures, an aortic valve replacement, knee surgery, Covid, and even cancer – at 79, he still very much goes around like he’s in his prime and heads to the office for clocking his six hours a day.

A million dollars… but the mindset is priceless
Let’s be real, a $1 million win isn’t exactly life-changing for a multimillionaire. It’s not like he’s suddenly upgrading from economy to business class.
But there’s something deeply satisfying about finally winning something you’ve consistently believed in for 25 years.
It’s not just about the money. It’s about the faith and having showed up.
And in true Dubai fashion, it’s another reminder that sometimes the long game really does pay off.
